The Consumer Law Lab brings 14 years of Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) enforcement expertise and 10 years of private practice experience to help protect consumers on two fronts: holding financial institutions accountable for consumer harm and helping non-profit financial institutions and government agencies avoid consumer harm through strong compliance design.

Public interest driven.
Integrity focused.
Access to justice for all.
The Consumer Law Lab is a public interest solo practice focused exclusively on consumer financial protection, with deep subject-matter expertise in fintech markets and payments law, EFTA and Regulation E compliance, data security, credit reporting, including employment and tenant screening, and consumer credit, including point-of-sale financing.

I help consumers, regardless of their ability to pay, collecting fees only when we win. I apply the same enforcement methodology I used in federal law enforcement cases, such as market analysis, regulatory expertise, and strategic legal theories, to hold institutions accountable for consumer harm.

I also work with nonprofit financial institutions and government agencies to navigate the complex consumer protection issues that arise when integrating payment systems. Drawing on my enforcement and supervision experience at CFPB, I help organizations identify and address compliance risks before they happen. I build risk management frameworks that help you deliver payment functionality without inadvertently creating consumer harm, or reputational risk.
